using link’s pariglider, hyrule is 168 miles long and 198 miles wide! this is already pretty known, though.
but, for a proper cross-hyrule trek we need to factor in:
and that’s WITHOUT terrain multipliers. lets add those now. death mountain alone would probably add a full day realistically, you’re not doing 3.1mph up a volcano. you’re going 1mph and crying. and the gerudo highlands are basically a mountain range so west to east is probably closer to 6-8 days if you’re routing through there. for north to south you factor in lost woods and hyrule castle (good luck with that) routing through the giant evil castle full of monsters, that’ll add what..a day? two days? assuming you survive? which honestly, you won’t? at least gerudo highlands has sunshrooms and zapshrroms.. the cold though, that’d be horrible..
realistically a full hyrule traverse with terrain penalties, castle detour, and survival concerns is probably 8-10 days total. that’s a genuine week and a half expedition. link is out here doing serious ultramarathon distances and everyone just treats it like a tuesday. though, this also assumes the average human is an AMAZING climber like link is which..no..that is NOT happening unless you have become one with the walls. so adding the needed detours because, lets be real, you are NOT climbing for like 30 miles upwards total over that 8-10 days, that would take it up to at MINIMUM 13 days.
so in conclusion: link is genuinely a freak athlete and we just never appreciate it because the game makes it look easy, it would take 13+ days for any of us to cross it by walking
